Tsukuba International Preschool

The focus of our “All About Me” unit this week will be on our feelings. We will learn how to express them, and do some art projects as we talk about what makes us feel happy, sad, proud and so on.

In Language arts we will focus on the letter and sound of Dd this week. We will also begin to learn the letters of the alphabet in sign language.

For maths we will continue to work with numbers 1-10, this week focusing on tracing and writing them.

We will also be making a visit to Grade 2′s classroom to enjoy some activities with them.

Monday
This morning we will be introduced to Dippy Duck and in the afternoon we will talk about some words to describe our feelings.

Tuesday
Today we will do a scavenger hunt in the forest and do an art activity with these items.

Wednesday
For Language Arts today we will work in teacher-led and independent learning centres.

Thursday
We will make faces which represent the feelings we have discussed, and talk about things that make us feel that way.

Friday
Today we will learn the parts of a computer.

What a short week we have at school this week! We hope you have enjoyed your break.

In Language Arts this week we will practice writing our name correctly, share some stories, and review the alphabet letters and phonics sounds we have learned so far. We will also continue to review the names of our body parts.

For maths we will continue to familiarize ourselves with our calendar routine and do some hands-on problem solving activities.

Thursday
This morning we will practice writing our names and share a favourite book during story time. For maths we will practice our listening and problem solving skills as we work with play dough.

Friday
Today we will do some painting and learn some more violin techniques.

We will continue to learn about our bodies this week, making life-size drawings of ourselves. We will also experiment with using different parts of our bodies to paint. We sing lots of songs to help remember our body parts.

In Maths we will move our focus on to numbers 1-10.

For language Arts we will focus on the letter “Aa”, with this week’s character being Annie Apple. We have also decided to make “Show & Tell” a permanent part of our weekly routines as we believe it will help build the children’s language and listening skills as well as confidence.

Monday
This morning we will listen to a story about “Annie Apple” and learn some words starting with “a”. In the afternoon we will make some music with the maracas we made last week.

Tuesday
We will start our day by exploring a new path in the forest. This afternoon we’ll get our hands and feet wet with some paint!

Wednesday
This morning we will do some yoga followed by teacher-led and independent learning centres for language arts.

Thursday
We will continue to practice writing the letter Aa today, and paint our life-size body outlines.

Friday
We will finish off a special treat that we are working on for our grandparents.

What a fantastic first week we have had. We have made lots of new friends and are settling into our new routines nicely. To help us get to know each other a little more, we will have a special “Show & Tell” this week.

Our first topic of the year is “All about Me”. We will start looking at our physical characteristics this week. What do we look like? How are we different? How are we the same? We will graph the results of our findings. In Language Arts we will focus on the letter “Cc”. We will also start our Japanese classes this week.

Monday
We will start our day with a walk in the forest to collect acorns. In the afternoon, we will cover PET bottles with a tissue paper collage to make some Maracas.

Tuesday
During Maths today we will play some number games and practice writing the numbers 1-5.

Wednesday
This morning we will draw our self-portraits, and in the afternoon we will have a fire drill.

Thursday
For PE we will practice different body actions and balancing using different parts of our bodies.

Friday
Today we will finish our last “Clever Cat” Cc writing project.

Welcome to Tsukuba International Preschool!

What an exciting yet scary time both for parents and your beautiful children. After a few little tears were shed, you will be happy to know that all of your children settled in remarkably well for their very first day at TIP. We are very proud of them!

This week at TIP we will have an altered schedule to allow plenty of time to get used to our classroom routines and environment. Thank you for your support and we are looking forward to a great year of fun and learning!

Tuesday
Our first day together! We will learn each others’ names using and meet the TIS students on a tour of their school. We will also make a class jigsaw puzzle and then put it together.

Wednesday
This morning we will review our class rules and routines, take a walk in the forest. We will also make placemats to eat our lunch off, as well as be introduced to the alphabet with a fun game. For PE we will learn how to play “Duck, Duck, Goose”.

Thursday
This morning we will try kids yoga, and play some fun alphabet games. During Maths we will read “Chicka Chicka 123” and play some number games. After quiet time we will do a birthday cake art activity.

Friday
Today we will walk in the forest and then share some of our favourite stories. In the afternoon we will join TIS students outside for some bush dancing.
