Tsukuba International Preschool

We have had lots of fun learning about fall and Halloween the past week, and are very excited about our Party on Wednesday. We will also continue to do our usual maths and language arts classes this week focusing on “Ss” and classifying objects. Later in the week we hope to resume our “All About Me” topic study.

Monday
This morning we will meet Sammy Snake, practice writing ‘s’ as well as make a list of words that start with it. We will also read a Halloween story and do some
Halloween craft activities.

Tuesday
We will do some language arts and maths learning centres this morning, and finish preparations for our Fall Fun Day.

Wednesday
Today we will enjoy some fall activities at TIP and in the afternoon, at TIS.

Thursday
We will continue working with the letter ‘Ss’ in learning centres today, and will enjoy some outdoor activities in the afternoon.

Friday
This morning we will draw and write a story in our journals. After recess we will read Eric Carle’s “From Head to toe” and talk about things people and animals
can and can’t do, as well as try some different actions and activities out.

This week in Preschool we will take a break from “All about me” and look at changes in our environment that occur with changes in seasons, and special celebrations. In Maths we will continue comparing and sorting things and talk about making patterns. In language arts we will meet “Talking Tess” and build our ‘t’ vocabulary as well as concentrate on writing skills. We hope to be very creative this week and express our understandings of our environment and the seasons through a few different art projects.

Monday
Today we will practice writing ‘t’ and find words that begin with its sound. We will also read some fall stories, learn a new song and do some fall activities.

Tuesday
For maths today we will do some fall sorting and pattern activities. In the afternoon we will have a special visit from a local forestry expert.

Wednesday
Today we will continue with ‘Tt’ activities and talk about Halloween.

Thursday
This morning we will visit Mr. Chartier and his grade 4/5 class for some fun learning and buddy activities. We will also make something special to take home.

Friday
For Language Arts today we will review our ‘t’ vocabulary, songs & actions. We will continue to learn about fall & Halloween and make something to wear for Halloween.

This week in language Arts we will continue our journal writing/ story telling, as well as focus on the letter Mm. We will also start to put together our “All about me” books.

In art we will use resources we collected on our nature scavenger hunt and experiment with different ways of creating seasonal artwork.

For maths we will continue to practice our counting and days of the week in our morning meetings, as well as review similarities and differences of things around us, and sort things around our classroom.

Monday
No school today

Tuesday
This morning we will make a list of words that begin with ‘m’ and practice writing. We will also draw a picture and write about our favourite things in our journals. In the afternoon we will do some art rubbings with items collected on our nature scavenger hunt.

Wednesday
In maths learning centres we will play some maths games and sort things by different characteristics.

Thursday
Today we will do some yoga, focus on writing and recognizing ‘m’ words, talk about things we don’t like, and learn how to play hopscotch for P.E.

Friday
We will start putting together our “All about me” books, continue our phonics activities, and make a collage with items from our natural environment.

Last week we began to have our own special jobs each day and will continue with these new responsibilities this week.

In language arts we will focus on the letter ‘Hh’. We will look around for words that begin with this letter, and master some Hh writing. We will also type our names on the computer.

In maths we will continue to work with numbers in various ways and move to writing them.

Our “All about me” lessons will include further discussion on how things and events make us feel, as well as expressing our like and dislikes.

Monday
We will be introduced to Harry Hat Man and find words that start with the same letter, as well as writing ‘h’. In the afternoon we will make music patterns with our
maracas as well as sing some songs together.

Tuesday
We will continue with ‘h’ sound and vocabulary building activities this morning. In maths we will use manipulatives to help with number recognition and practice writing our numbers correctly. During art time we will experiment with paint to make different colours.

Wednesday
This morning we will visit grade three for some learning activities and then draw and write our own stories in our journals.

Thursday
Today we will talk about things we like and dislike and express them through games and art. In the afternoon we will play outdoor games such as freeze tag.

Friday
We will finish off with a fun ‘h’ activity today as well as write in our journals. In the afternoon we will further experiment with mixing colours as we make some clay.
